Welcome to the website of the CMHA Quebec (hereinafter “we” or “our”). We commit to protecting the privacy of our clients and users of the website. The goal of the Policy for the protection of personal information, the use of cookies, and privacy (hereinafter: “the policy”) is to inform you of how the CMHA Quebec collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information in keeping with an Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (hereinafter “ARPPIPS”) and other laws applicable to the protection of Quebec and Canadian data.

Collection of personal information

We collect personal information only as needed to achieve the objectives set out in this policy when you use our website or interact with our services. The personal information we collect may include, without limitation:

We collect this information when you provide it voluntarily, for example, when creating an account or communicating with customer service, particularly through a form.

Managing cookies

You can generally configure your browser to refuse cookies or notify you when cookies have been sent. However, some sections of our website may not function correctly without the use of cookies.

Disclosure of personal information

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, except in the following situations:

Transfer of personal information abroad

From time to time, we use service providers located outside Canada (including outside the province of Quebec) to fulfill specific mandates in the normal course of business. As such, it is possible that some personal information about you may be transferred to places other than your province, territory, state, or country of residence. In such cases, we will ensure that personal information is transferred to countries that have received a decision of compliance from the appropriate authority or that personal information is adequately protected via technical, organizational, contractual, or other appropriate legal means.

Security of personal information

We put in place appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Retention of personal information

We retain your personal information as long as necessary to achieve the objectives listed in this policy unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Destruction of personal information

We securely destroy personal information at the end of the retentionperiod or when this personal information is no longer necessary. However, in some cases and for serious, legitimate purposes, such as for statistical data or another purpose, we may anonymize (i.e.: make it impossible to identify the person through information irreversibly and permanently) personal information. This process makes it impossible to trace the individual associated with the information. The rest of the data will be destroyed in keeping with the previous paragraph.

The policy does not apply to other third-party websites that can be accessed from a link on our web pages. We are not and cannot be responsible for these third-party sites, their content, access, or how they may use your personal information. As such, any personal information that you send through the intermediary of these third-party websites is subject to their confidentiality and/or protection of privacy policy. It is your responsibility to read these policies on third-party websites.
